Between WWI and WWII, when Gi\u017cycko \u2013 L\u00f6tzen was an elite resort. Paul von Hindenburg (later elected President of Germany) turned the building, which until then served as his private accommodation, into a regional museum. The situation has become even worse during the communist period, when the building went to rack and ruin. It was not until 2010 when it was finally restored to become a 4-star boutique hotel, which happens to be the only 4-star hotel in this area.
