The international Pumpkin Festival

Nagydobos is not only the name of the place but also the name of the pumpkin, famous all over the world. Nagydobos was a famous food product of the settlement during the years 1920s and 1930s. Since 1998, the International Pumpkin Festival has been held annually, the highlight of which is a competition for the title of the largest pumpkin in the country – the record weight reached 116 kg. Visitors can also see a variety of products made from pumpkins, such as decorations and toys. Visitors can also taste pumpkin dishes and beverages, such as pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin-poppy seed cream, pumpkin cake, etc. There is an exhibition of pumpkin sculptures, a pumpkin processing contest, a parade of pumpkin lanterns, and a pumpkin puppet theater for children during the festival.
